The Big Sing

Staff and pupils had a thoroughly enjoyable day out together participating in the Big Sing. Blessed with beautiful weather, 260 excited children piled into coaches in the morning of May 3rd in anticipation of the big day ahead.

We had all been preparing for months in advance, learning songs, practising harmonies and even some dance choreography. It was fantastic to finally get to showcase our hard work with hundreds of other schools from all across Norfolk.

Recycling Stars

We are pleased to announce that all our hard work in collecting recycling stars means we have raised £500 for the school. Not only is this great news for the school but also for the environment as Breckland Council have reported a significant improvement in recycling in the area!

The money will be spent improving the outdoor eating and learning area for use this Summer.

Thank you to everyone who helped us collect the stars.

Book Day

We had a super Book Day celebrating a love of reading at WJAW.

Children brought their favourite book to share with someone else in another year group, dressed as book characters and wrote more adventures for Emily Brown and the Thing.

Enrichment Afternoons

Before October half-term, the children all had the opportunity to explore new and exciting learning in different classrooms. The children were mixed into groups of pupils from year three to year six and took part in an activity which looked a bit different to their everyday classroom learning.

There was a range of activities as the photos show!

Everyone will get the opportunity to try the different activities and more during the school year.

We’re collecting Recycling Stars vouchers!

Wayland Junior Academy Watton is excited to be part of the Recycling Stars initiative in Watton and Carbrooke.

Recycle the correct items in your black wheelie bin every fortnight and you will be rewarded with a recycling star voucher. Leave your vouchers in the collection box in our main reception to help raise money for the school.

Please donate your stars to Wayland Junior Academy Watton because if we reach our targets we will use the money to:

Google Expedition!

On Thursday 18th May, pupils travelled all around the world and into space through the wonders of virtual reality (VR) headsets. Google Education offer the opportunity for schools to take part in this project which allows pupils to explore the natural world, ancient monuments and beautiful cities amongst many other fascinating places.
