Our school’s improvements recognised by Ofsted

Ofsted inspectors have highlighted the “high expectations” of senior leaders, who “are ambitious” for Wayland Junior Academy Watton, and whose “strong determination is now starting to make a positive difference to pupils’ achievement.”

Wayland Junior’s principal, Nicola Kaye, says that further improvements, which are already underway, will see the academy continue to progress towards a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating.

Ofsted Report Available Now

Our latest Ofsted report is now available for you to download below.

Paper copies are also available from reception if you prefer.

The governors (Academy Councillors) and senior leadership team are pleased that Ofsted recognised the journey that the academy has been on since the previous school (Watton Junior School) was judged to be in Special Measures in November 2013. We are delighted that they recognise that our pastoral and safeguarding practices are particular strengths of the school.

World Book Day 2017 - Door Competition

To mark World Book Day 2017, pupils and teachers at Wayland Junior Academy Watton have turned every form door in the school into a colourful tribute to a favourite book.

This fun and creative project has involved every pupil in the school, with the book covers chosen including classics such as The Lord of the Rings, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, and Oliver Twist, as well as more recent titles such as Stick Man, How to Train Your Dragon and The Midnight Gang.

New website launched

Welcome to the new and improved Wayland Junior Academy Watton website.

Developed by Norfolk Educational Services, the organisation that provides support services to all TEN Group Institutions, the new website significantly improves online communication with both parents and students and provides an engaging way of keeping up-to-date with life at Wayland Academy.

The website incorporates a number of improvements that make the site easier for visitors to use, including:

Ofsted Parent View

Parent View gives you the chance to tell Ofsted what you think about your child’s school, from the quality of teaching to dealing with bullying and poor behaviour. The survey can be completed at any time; you don’t have to wait until the school is being inspected.

We will use the information you provide when making decisions about which schools to inspect and when.
